Born in 1963 on the picturesque island of Burano, Venice, Afro Celotto embarked on his remarkable journey into the world of glass at the age of 14. Under the tutelage of legendary glass artist Lino Tagliapietra, Celotto mastered the delicate and demanding craft of Murano glassmaking. Over time, he developed a unique style, blending the rich tradition of Venetian glass with his own innovative spirit, quickly becoming one of the most respected and fascinating figures in contemporary Murano glass art.

Throughout his career, Celotto’s work has stood out not only for its technical brilliance but also for its emotional depth. His pieces are one-of-a-kind creations, each imbued with vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and dynamic forms that push the boundaries of what glass can express. However, Afro’s journey as an artist was not without its challenges. After years of success, including teaching glass art in the United States, Afro faced personal struggles that led him on a profound journey of self-discovery. A spiritual retreat to a French monastery marked a turning point in his life, where he confronted his inner turmoil and found peace. This newfound inner freedom allowed him to return to his craft with renewed passion and clarity, stating, “I conquered my demons.”

In 2014, Afro co-founded the brand A.F.R.O. with his close friend and partner Alberto Livotto, marking a new chapter in his artistic career. Together, they work in collaboration with the esteemed Fornace Zanetti in Murano, blending traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge design while maintaining their distinct artistic identity.
